Japanese presence at the Olympic Games in Sochi

Оn 07th February 2014 were officially opened XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi with a amazing ceremony.
The beautiful show was filled with many light effects and fireworks. It continueed 2 hours and 40 minutes and had been seen by over 3 billion people all over the world.Olympic torch was lit by three times Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Rodnina and four-time Olympic champion on ice hockey Vladislav Tretiak. It involved a total of 88 countries and over 2,800 athletes.

Japan will be represented from its national team consisting of about 65 athletes in four different sports. For gonfalonier was chosen Ayumi Ogasawara and for captain Noriaki Kasai, ski jumping competitor.
Yurie Adachi, Mao Asada, Sho Endo, Nana Fujimoto, Ryo Aono, Ayumu Hirano, Masako Nozomi, Hidenori Isa, Yuki Kadono are few from the athletes in the team, which Japan sent in Sochi to present the country in an astonishing way to win their gold medals.

For now we have a great news from Yuzuru Hanyu, who overtook Yevgeny Plushchenko, and let Japan take a leading position in the inaugural figure skating team competition. His estimate is 99.84 points and with this set a world record for his high score. Two-time world champion Mao Asada won the short program in the women’s absence, with an estimate of 72.36 points.
